Kate Smirkin (b. 1983) is a self-taught photographer of Russian origin, based in Sweden. In her photography work she explores individual relationship between human and nature, as well as the ways human imagination completes existing reality.
"There is a humor to the work that feels both fresh and sharp. Some of the images manage to walk a line between a quick joke and a deeper consideration of issues, they work on multiple levels to speak to the varying ways we approach imagery. Other images have a sense of contemplation and questioning, around the nature of imagery and perception itself." - Lensculture Submission Review, 2020
